Camden Catholic Wins South B Wrestling Title

The Irish run away with the crown in a blowout win over Holy Cross Friday night.

Two days after dismantling St. Joseph’s in the semifinals in a match where they only gave up six points, the Camden Catholic Irish wrestlers made it look almost as easy in securing the Non-Public South B championship by flattening a Holy Cross team that scored half as many total points as the Irish did off forfeit wins alone.

Besides four forfeit victories, the Irish piled up five pins and a major decision to claim the title against a completely overmatched Holy Cross squad, which won just three bouts all night.

Leading Camden Catholic with first-period pins were 106-pounder Joseph Cahill (26 seconds into the bout), 113-pounder Tyler McBride (36 seconds into the bout) and 132-pounder Alex Smyth (43 seconds into the bout).
