Cherry Hill Mall Payless Targeted For Possible Closing
A decision about the store's future could come as early as June 8.
CHERRY HILL, NJ — More changes may be in the works at the Cherry Hill Mall, although bargain shoe hunters may not be happy about it. Payless may be closing its store at the mall.
Payless has asked a federal bankruptcy court for permission to close 112 stores, including the Cherry Hill location, and potentially another 296 if conditions don't improve, Fortune.com reported.
Closure is not a certainty yet, and a final decision depends on bankruptcy negotiations. A court hearing on the potential closures is set for June 8.

"We remain hopeful that these negotiations will be successful and provide us with the ability to avoid additional closures," according to the Payless website.
Seven stores closed in April. If approved, another 10 stores could close:

The possible closure is announced as the Cherry Hill Mall gets set to welcome Zara, one of the largest international fashion retailers, to the mall. Zara is tentatively set to open in November, and will occupy about 26,000 square feet of space between Macy’s and Nordstrom. Zara offers apparel and accessories for men, women and children.
