Cherry Hill Man In His 60s Dies Of Coronavirus

As of Tuesday, there have been 1,564 Cherry Hill residents who tested positive for the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — A Cherry Hill man in his 60s has died after testing positive for the coronavirus, Camden County officials announced on Tuesday.

He is the 156th Cherry Hill resident to die after testing positive for the virus. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,564 Cherry Hill residents have tested positive for the coronavirus, according to numbers provided by county officials.

The Cherry Hill man was one of four Camden County residents whose deaths related to the virus were announced on Tuesday. A Runnemede woman in her 70s, a Voorhees man in his 90s and a Voorhees woman in her 90s have also died after testing positive for the coronavirus, according to officials.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families today as we learn of four additional Camden County residents whose lives have been lost due to COVID-19,” Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said. “Coronavirus cases are surging throughout the state and region. We can get a handle on this crisis before it gets out of hand again, but we will have to make small sacrifices in order to get there. For the time being, please forgo small indoor gatherings even if you believe all of the guests to be healthy. Until this pandemic is over, we have to minimize our close contact with others in order to stop the virus from spreading.”

Five Cherry Hill residents were among 24 additional cases of the coronavirus announced countywide on Tuesday. Trace investigations are underway in all new cases. The new Cherry Hill cases included:

  • A woman in her 60s;
  • A woman in her 40s;
  • A man in his 50s;
  • A man in his 60s; and
  • A woman in her 20s.

As of Tuesday, 11,715 Camden County residents had tested positive for the coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic, with 566 confirmed deaths.

The Camden County Department of Health also announced 1,529 confirmed resident cases and 637 staff cases at the county's 56 long-term care facilities. As of Tuesday, 333 residents and three staff members have died as a result of the coronavirus.
