Cherry Hill Man Who Killed Ex-Wife Gets Sentenced To Prison

Philip Puche will spend time behind bars after jurors found him guilty of murdering Nancy Kenny, a former Cherry Hill educator.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — A Cherry Hill man was sentenced to decades behind bars for killing his ex-wife.

Philip Puche, 76, was convicted of murder last month in the stabbing death of Nancy Kenny — a former Cherry Hill educator. He was sentenced May 15 to 40 years in prison, without parole eligibility for 34 years.

In July 2020, Puche stabbed Kenny outside of the home she shared with her new husband in Audubon Park, officials said. Authorities brought Kenny to Cooper University Hospital for emergency surgery after she suffered multiple lacerations to her head and neck.

Puche was arrested that day and held in the Camden County Correctional Facility.

Kenny, 63, succumbed to her injuries in March 2021. Her death was ruled a homicide caused by complications of multiple incised wounds to her head and neck.

On April 3, a jury found Puche guilty of first-degree murder, first-degree robbery, second-degree burglary and third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Puche was sentenced to 40 years in prison for murder and must serve 85 percent of the term before becoming eligible for parole. He also received concurrent prison terms of 10 years for robbery, seven years for burglary and four years for the weapons offense.

Kenny worked with children in special education in the Cherry Hill School District, according to her obituary.
