CHERRY HILL, NJ — The Cherry Hill Public School District will be closed beginning Monday after a second presumptive positive case of new coronavirus was reported in the township. Schools will be closed for two weeks to help slow the spread of the virus, the district announced late Friday night.

SATs will still take place at Cherry Hill's two high schools on Saturday, as planned. The district plans to reopen March 30.

"We will share additional information regarding our Continuity of Learning Plan on Monday, March 16, as well as information about borrowing technology and accessing breakfast and lunch for those families who receive free or reduced price meals," school district officials said in a statement.

The second case was announced one week after the first case was announced in a Cherry Hill man in his 60s. On Thursday, county officials said his condition continues to improve. These are the only two presumptive positive cases in Camden County as of Friday, although four people at a Cherry Hill Urgent Care Center were quarantined after being exposed to the man the same day he was hospitalized. In this case, the county was able to trace back all the patient's exposures and none have exhibited any symptoms since self-quarantining.

Earlier in the day, the disrict announced it was canceling all field trips, class trips, concerts and plays, athletic competitions, and any other large gatherings that place more than 250 people in a small space in the district’s schools.
