Cherry Hill West Girls Swimming in Central A Final

Cherry Hill West’s girls swim team opened with wins in four straight events and closed with three in a row in a resounding, 98.5-71.5 semifinal win over Cherokee in the Central A playoffs at Camden County Tech Tuesday.

The Lions got it done via a dominant quartet—Jenna Zagoren, Erin McBride, Maddy Koelsch and Madison Franke, who combined to win seven of the eight individual events and formed the winning 400 freestyle relay squad. Zagoren and Koelsch were also part of the winning 200 medley relay.

While those four were the team’s backbone, the Lions got plenty of contributions beyond the wins, picking up nine second- and third-place finishes, including key contributions from Jenna Brown (50 free, 100 fly, 200 medley relay), Colleen Clancy (100 breaststroke, 200 medley relay) and Saylor Cook (200 medley relay, 100 backstroke).

The No. 2-seeded Lions, who won the South A title and were state runners-up last year, move on to face top seed Hillsborough in the Central A final, which is scheduled for Friday at the Neptune Aquatic Center at Neptune High School in Monmouth County.
