Cherry Hill Woman Dies; 30 Test Positive For Coronavirus

A Cherry Hill woman in her 70s is the 161st township resident to die since the beginning of the pandemic.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — A Cherry Hill woman in her 70s has died after testing positive for the coronavirus, Camden County officials announced on Tuesday.

He was one of eight new coronavirus-related deaths announced on Tuesday. The others included a Winslow man in his 30s, a Camden woman in her 60s, a Voorhees man in his 90s, a Pennsauken man in his 80s, a Pennsauken woman in her 80s, a Gloucester City man in his 70s, and a Gloucester Township man in his 70s.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families in this most difficult of times to lose a loved one,” Camden County Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said. “We are still fighting every day to contain the spread of this virus. We have expanded testing, increased our public education efforts, and are continuing to ask that everyone make small sacrifices to protect themselves and their community. With the winter holidays just weeks away, please stay apprised of all recommendations and guidelines to keep each other safe and get us through until the first vaccines are hopefully administered at the beginning of the year.”

Thirty Cherry Hill residents were among 279 new cases of the coronavirus announced throughout Camden County. Trace investigations are underway in all new cases.

As of Tuesday, 2,463 Cherry Hill residents have tested positive for the coronavirus and 161 have died since the beginning of the pandemic, according to numbers provided by the Camden County Health Department.

Countywide, 19,988 residents have tested positive and 615 residents have died since the beginning of the pandemic.

At the county’s 56 long-term care facilities, 1,710 residents and 812 staff members have tested positive, with 360 resident deaths. Three staff members have also died.
