District 27 Wrestling Seeds: Mohrfeld No. 1, Goto, Swenson No. 2

The team portion of the wrestling season brought with it paramount success for the Camden Catholic High school wrestling team and a historic playoff run for Cherry Hill West.

The individual portion of the season may bring the same.

The NJSIAA released the District 27 wrestling tournament seeds Thursday, and it comes as little surprise the bracket it is littered with local wrestlers as top seeds. The Irish have four No. 1 seeds: Tyler McBride, T.J. Miller, Chad Walsh and Jeff Miller. Lions’ senior Nick Mohrfeld is the No. 1 seed at 106 pounds.

Cherry Hill East has plenty to be excited about as well, with Daishi Goto and Patrick Swenson earning No. 2 seeds.

The 195-pound bracket appears to be the most exciting, as it could feature three local wrestlers advancing to regions. Jerry Peralta of Cherry Hill East is the No. 2 seed, West's David Capone is third and Sean Collins, of Camden Catholic, is seeded fourth.

The tournament begins Friday night with the prequarterfinals and quarterfinals and continues Saturday with the semifinals and finals. All action takes place at Cherokee High School.
