The Girl Scout mission is to build girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. The Girl Scouts has over a century of experience with community-centric service projects and developing programs routed in core values and skills such as entrepreneurism, outdoor adventures, life skills, leadership, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math). Late last week, Ginny Marino, CEO of the Girl Scouts of Central and Southern New Jersey ("GSCSNJ") announced that badge program and activity resources would be publicly posted at www.gscsnj.org/athome

Girl Scouts At Home include a publicly set of website pages and activities that will direct parents and teachers step-by-step on badge programs, and access to live-stream events. The tutorials are written so that those interested do not need to have any background or knowledge of Girl Scouts to complete the activities.

A starter list of programs being offered includes outdoor adventures that can be done while social distancing, science badge activities, engineering paper airplanes, art apprentice, photo magic, and computer coding work. The programs are tailored to be age-appropriate for ages 4 through 18. These programs can be done independently and as a family.

In addition to the independent work, GSCSNJ will offer the following LIVE virtual programs:

  • Every Friday evening at 7:00 pm, a virtual campfire from one of our camps. This is an opportunity for girls and families to come together to sing songs and listen to stories. The live-stream event will be hosted from a different Girl Scout camp each week.
  • Monday through Thursday nights at 7:00 pm, a program for all ages will be offered, including campfire building, foil dinner packets, collage fun, painting inspirational rocks, upcycling a t-shirt, a dance party, yoga, and more.
  • Monday – Friday at 2:00 pm, a specific age-level program will take place. It will be based on one of the Girl Scout pillars- STEM, Life Skills, Outdoor Adventures, or Entrepreneurship.

Each week throughout the period of self-quarantine and social distancing, GSCSNJ will offer two new live-stream programs every day- that’s 14 new programs per week. These resources are open to ALL girls; you do not have to be a registered Girl Scout to access the material. Some programs will require registration via Eventbrite but are FREE.

GSCSNJ is very excited about making these resources available. The Girl Scouts believes this is another way to support the local community in a time when we all need to come together and support one another.
