Camden County Vets Get Access To Needed Care Amid Outbreak

CAMDEN COUNTY, NJ — The Veterans Health Administration has activated their Emergency Management Coordination Cell (EMCC) to allow veterans access to important care during the outbreak of new coronavirus, according to Camden County officials.

Veterans Affairs Medical Centers are prepared with negative airflow beds and testing kits for veterans who are exhibiting symptoms and need medical treatment.

VA staff is asking for all visitors to call or send a message through My HealtheVet before visiting, even if they have an appointment. Anyone who tries to enter a VA center will be screened for a fever, cough or flu-like symptoms.

“If you are a veteran and are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, please call your provider first and speak with them about what the next steps are,” Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said. “The county’s outpatient clinics and main medical center remain open and many appointments are being handled by telephone or video if possible. We’re taking the necessary steps to keep our veterans safe while still providing the critical services needed.”
