Jazz It Up Philly - Cupid's Arrow Live at Union Trust

Featuring the Jerry Boyle Quintet and Singers Calli Graver and Michael Andrews Sunday, February 14 – 5 to 8 p.m.

It’s the night for romance and what could be better than enjoying beautiful music and wonderful food in a glorious setting! And, that’s what Thomas Camarda and Charlie Bartlett, the Jazz It Up Philly partners, have in store for Valentine’s Day. Jazz It Up Philly - Cupid’s Arrow Live at Union Trust is planned for Sunday, February 14, 2016 from 5 to 8 p.m. The evening includes a three-course dinner by Finley Catering including a bottle of champagne, music throughout the evening provided by the Jerry Boyle Quintet and guest vocalists Calli Graver and Michael Andrews, live painting by Katherine Gressel and the opportunity to win two tickets to The Philly POPS and four rounds of golf at Talamore Country Club in Ambler, PA.

Jazz It Up Philly is often called “the best floating jazz show in Philadelphia” because Camarda and Bartlett present jazz at various restaurants in Center City. They look forward to this Valentine’s Day dinner show, as it happens to fall one year after their launch into monthly entertainment. Camarda said, “We wanted to bring something new to Philadelphia on Valentine’s Day and our Cupid’s Arrow dinner show will do just that.” Bartlett continued, “We’re bringing in great performers who are the ideal talent for a romantic evening. In fact, Jerry Boyle will include music from his popular album “A Little Romance … Now and Then.”

Song Stylist Jerry Boyle, who will sing with his quintet, is well known in the Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey area. He performs songs written by George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Johnny Mercer and Cole Porter and sings in the style of such favorites as Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, Tony Bennett, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole and more. Jerry Boyle performed for years at the Atlantic City casinos, often paired with the late, legendary jazz pianist George Mesterhazy. Their recording, “A Little Romance … Now and Then,” has been played on radio stations throughout the area. The two performed regularly in Philadelphia for a musical restaurant, well known in the late 80s and early 90s, Babe’s Steakhouse. Today he is a bandleader and sings with his popular doo wop group, “Jerry Boyle & The Violations.”

Michael Andrew has a deep, rich and resonant vocal instrument and a way with a song that recalls some of the greatest vocalists in the history of jazz and blues. He loves to work classics from the American Songbook, and easily conjures up the spirits of Billy Eckstine, Big Joe Williams, Johnny Hartman and others from an earlier era. He has performed with the U.S. Air Force Band, Tops in Blue, The Philadelphia Clef Club Big Band, The American Cabaret Theatre (Indianapolis, IN), and has also appeared as a musical guest on Philadelphia’s NBC-10.
