Fewer than 10 Cherry Hill residents reported positive coronavirus test results over the last three days, according to officials.
CHERRY HILL, NJ — Fewer than 10 Cherry Hill residents reported positive coronavirus test results over the last three days, Camden County officials announced on Monday.
The announcement of nine new cases reported from Aug. 1-3 came as Gov. Phil Murphy announced that the statewide transmission rate was up to 1.48 percent, the highest it’s been since early April.
He also announced that indoor gatherings were once again being restricted to 25 people and 25 percent capacity per room, reversing a previous increase to 100 people. Read more here: NJ Reverses Indoor Gathering Rules As Transmission Rate Rises

As of Wednesday, there were 1,185 cases of the coronavirus and 160 confirmed deaths in Cherry Hill. Countywide, there are 8,964 cases of the coronavirus and 546 confirmed deaths. There were eight new deaths in the county over the three-day period.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and friends of these most recent victims. Every life lost to this virus is a tragedy, and we are wishing a fast and full recovery to each of our residents who recently tested positive for COVID-19,” Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said, “Our statewide transmission rate is much higher than it has been for several weeks, signaling that this virus is once again beginning to make its way through New Jersey communities at a dangerous rate. We have to do everything in our power to stop coronavirus from regaining a foothold in our community. Keep wearing a mask, social distancing, and avoid gatherings with large groups of people.”
According to the Camden County Department of Health, there are 1,340 confirmed cases among residents at the county's long-term care facilities, with 311 deaths. Another 512 cases were reported among staff members with three deaths.
In Cherry Hill, there are 388 nursing home residents who have tested positive for the coronavirus with 103 confirmed deaths. There are another 129 cases among staff at the long-term care facilities with three confirmed deaths.
Trace investigations are underway in all new cases. The following information is available about new coronavirus cases reported in Cherry Hill from Aug. 1-3:
- A woman in her 30s;
- A man in his 40s;
- Two women in their 20s;
- Two men in their 30s;
- A woman in her 60s;
- A man in his 60s; and
- A woman in her 40s.
On Tuesday, Cappelli, Rep. Donald Norcross (D-1), Assemblyman Bill Spearman, and Reginald Blaber, MD, Virtua Health’s Executive VP and Chief Clinical Officer will provide an update on the county's response to the pandemic.
