CHERRY HILL, NJ — Residents helped local officials identify the truck that hit the historic Scarborough Covered Bridge in Cherry Hill last week, the town's police chief told Patch.

"There was a witness to the crash and we were able to get security footage from several residents and the Johnson School that were used," Cherry Hill Police Chief Robert Kempf continued.

The truck's driver was Baljinder Singh of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, he said.

The Scarborough Covered Bridge is believed to be one of only two covered bridges still in use in New Jersey. The bridge was undergoing repairs when the crash occurred at about 9 a.m. on July 26, according to previous reports.

The timetable for completing repairs is still being determined, according to Kempf.

"We are still waiting on an updated repair schedule, however, the assessment has been done and the work is being organized," he said in the interview.
