Mt. Laurel Resident Honored as 'Santander Community QB'

President of the Woodland Community Development Corp. Recognized for Community Contributions and Rewarded with Eagles Game Experience

Reverend Floyd White (Left) of Mt. Laurel, New Jersey was recognized for his incredible work in the community at Sunday’s Eagles game as an honoree in the inaugural ‘Santander Community Quarterback’ program. Santander Bank and the Philadelphia Eagles created this program to honor exceptional individuals who exemplify leadership, dedication and commitment to improving their communities. Throughout the season, 10 winners will be selected by a panel of judges made up of representatives from Santander and the Eagles.

Rev. White, a local minister and community leader in Camden, New Jersey, created the Woodland Community Development Corporation (WCDC), a nonprofit organization working to improve the social and economic conditions in the City of Camden in order to build self-sufficient and self-reliant households. A 34-year military officer and chaplain of the 177th Fighter Wing, Rev. White created the WCDC in 1997 as an outreach organization through his local church. Since then, the WCDC has expanded to include afterschool programs, youth employment support, a community garden, neighborhood clean-ups and a food pantry. The corporation also assists high schoolers and their families with college prep, including standardized test prep, and guidance through the college application and financial aid process.

Rev. White also organizes an annual football camp with NFL alumni in Philadelphia for 50 top athletes from the Camden High School and Woodrow Wilson High School football teams. The camp is meant to train young men to succeed both in academics and athletics. Rev. White also recently created a tennis camp at the Philadelphia Freedom, where 20 kids have the opportunity to practice with the pros and watch a professional match.

As a winner, Rev. White received $1,000 for the local nonprofit organization of her choice and a VIP experience at the Eagles home game versus Chicago, which included the chance to watch the game in the Santander Field Club, located in the end zone at Lincoln Financial Field. At the end of the season, fans will have the opportunity to vote for one of three finalists to be named the Top Community Quarterback. The winner will receive an additional $4,000 to donate to a local nonprofit of his or her choice.

The Eagles and Santander are committed to recognizing outstanding individuals and deeply respect the people who make the Greater Philadelphia region a better place. Nominations are open now through November 27, 2017 and fans will have the opportunity vote for the Top Community Quarterback from December 6th through 15th.
