New 34-Mile Trail Breaks Ground In Camden County
The LINK Trail is part of a nine-county network.
AUDOBON, NJ — Construction is underway on the 34-mile-long greenway that will stretch from the Delaware River to the Pine Barrens.
Leaders from Camden County joined federal and state officials along Chestnut St. on Friday to break ground on the multi-use, off-road path meant as the central hub to a County-wide trail network.
This first $3 million portion connects Merchant Street in Audobon to Station Avenue in Haddon Heights, and is estimated to be completed by the end of 2026.

Construction is being done using porous asphalt to allow for rainwater to get into the surface, so it will not contribute to stormwater runoff.

Camden County Commissioner Jeff Nash lauded the "historic day" and the nearly 10 years it took to get there following feasibility studies, public meetings, and funding initiatives.

"The LINK Trail will provide residents throughout Camden County with access to passive recreation, and enable them a safe and scenic path to walk, bike, or run throughout our beautiful county," he added.
The trail will run from the Benjamin Franklin Bridge to the Atlantic County line in lower Winslow Township with urban, suburban, and rural environments playing roles in connecting the parks and business districts.
"This transformative project will connect our neighborhoods, promote a healthier lifestyle, and deliver economic benefits to residents and business owners alike," said Assemblyman Bill Spearman and Assemblyman Bill Moen.
The total project is estimated to cost $108 million, according to the County. Patch is awaiting further details on the breakdown of the funding.
The LINK trail is also a member of the Circuit Trails Network, an interconnected group of multi-use trails in nine counties on both sides of the Delaware River.
