• Cherry Hill's pre-K students are absent from school almost as much as seniors (inquirer.com) — Cherry Hill families are being urged to take pre-K attendance seriously as district data show preschoolers have one of the highest chronic absenteeism rates, second only to high school seniors. Officials outline new outreach efforts, rapid program expansion to nearly 900 preschool seats across 11 sites, and long-term plans to grow to 1,700 spots so more local children can access free early education.
   

• Philly-area AMC Theatres will screen two Dolly Parton movies (inquirer.com) — Cherry Hill moviegoers can honor Dolly Parton with discounted screenings of Steel Magnolias and The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas at AMC Cherry Hill 24 starting Friday and running through September 2. AMC is rolling out this tribute at about 200 theaters nationwide after Parton's recent death. Tickets for the local showings are available now through AMC's website.
