Piscataway Woman Killed in Motorcycle Crash Receives Justice
Jessica Montes, the 28-year old mother who was killed in a motorcycle accident receives justice after the driver gets sentenced to jail.

Jessica Montes , a 28-year old woman from Piscataway, NJ, can rest in peace knowing that the man who caused her death will be spending the next eight years of his life behind bars. Ruddy Custodio, 30, also from Piscataway, was driving with a suspended license and under the influence of drugs when the motorcycle accident occurred.
Custodio ended up losing control of his bike before crashing into the curb, projecting Montes from the back of the motorcycle. She was immediately taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital where she unfortunately died from the catastrophic injuries she sustained.
Custodio's hearing took place on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 and will formally be sentenced on January 2, 2019. Custodio's maximum sentencing of eight years falls under the No Early Release Act, which means he will not be eligible for parole until he has served at least 85% of his sentencing. This means that the earliest Custodio could be released back into public is in 6.8 years, granted he is paroled.

When the accident occurred on July 4, 2018, Montes was in the midst of making birthday plans with his cousin. Kenny Figueroa, her 19-year old cousin, talked lovingly about his friend and relative, calling her a devoted daughter and mom to her eight-year old son.
A GoFundMe page was quickly set up to help cover the costs of her funeral expenses and to help the family adjust to their new normal through this difficult time.
