Prosecutor Releases Photos Of Men In NJ Cop Shooting

The prosecutor's office released images of two persons of interest in the shooting of two Camden County cops Wednesday night.

The Camden County Prosecutor’s Office has released surveillance photos of two men it says are persons of interest in the shooting of two undercover Camden County police officers that happened on Tuesday night as the manhunt continued late Wednesday night.

The two plainclothes officers were in an unmarked car that was stopped at a red light at the intersection of Broadway and Walnut streets at about 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 7, when two men shot at them, according to the prosecutor’s office.

One of the officers fired back, and the two people who had opened fire on the car fled the scene, the prosecutor’s office said. In all, there were as many as 10 to 25 shots fired in the exchange, police said.

The injured officers were taken to Cooper University Hospital for treatment. They have both been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

When a municipal police officer is involved in a shooting, the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office conducts an investigation into the incident, as required by the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office guidelines. The local police department is not involved in the investigation into the officer involved shooting.
