Revamped Dog Park Opens In Cherry Hill

The dog park at Cooper River Park has been revamped with separate spaces for small and large dogs, along with a new viewing area.

CHERRY HILL, NJ — Furry residents in and around Cherry Hill have a new place to play.

The dog park at Cooper River Park has been renovated. The new space features separate sections for dogs of different sizes, along with agility equipment, benches and picnic tables. Thursday marked the park's grand opening.

Construction began last fall, beginning with the demolition of the prior dog park. The Camden County Parks Department allocated $775,000 for the renovation.

"We are thrilled to open this dog park as it was a highly anticipated project from our residents," said County Commissioner Jeff Nash, liaison to the parks department. "We used community feedback to guide us through this process and we think this new space will please everyone."

The renovations are part of Parks Alive 2025 — a $100 million plan to revitalize the county's 24 parks, conservation areas and waterways.

Renovating the dog park included the following work:

  • Demolishing the existing dog park, concrete walkways, and portions of asphalt pavement parking area, asphalt walkways and wooded areas.
  • Constructing a new dog park complete with separate fenced areas for small dogs, large dogs and agility equipment, along with a pavilion, benches, and picnic tables for spectator viewing.
  • Constructing parking lot improvements, including a new stone entrance, concrete ADA parking spaces and portions of new concrete curbing.
  • Construction of new concrete sidewalks, providing direct connections to the dog park entrance and view area, existing asphalt walk and parking area.
  • Installation of new regulatory and warning signs.
  • Topsoil and seeding/sodding and irrigation.
