NJ Temps Near 100 Degrees Friday, More Thunderstorms Expected

More severe weather is on its way to NJ, this time bringing with it temperatures nearing 100 degrees. Here's the latest.

NEW JERSEY - Another round of thunderstorms is coming to the Garden State, according to forecasters, this time with temperatures approaching the three-digit mark.

Friday’s forecast includes thunderstorms and isolated showers after 12 p.m., according to the National Weather Service, as well as winds between 10 to 20 mph and gusts up to 30 mph. The greatest risk for thunderstorms will be in southern New Jersey.

“A warm front moving through will bring a hot day today, but it won't last...a strong cold front will drop temps significantly for the weekend,” the National Weather Service Mount Holly station tweeted Friday.

The afternoon will also shape up to be a hot one, with temperatures near 95 expected, according to the National Weather Service. The good news: Saturday and Sunday are predicted to see temperatures 20 degrees cooler with a nice breeze.

Friday: Isolated showers and thunderstorms after noon. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 95. West wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 63. West wind around 5 mph.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 53. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Juneteenth: Sunny, with a high near 77. Northwest wind 10 to 15 mph.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 52.
