Skate Park Construction To Break Ground In Cherry Hill
Camden County officials hope to open the facility around New Year's Day.
CHERRY HILL, NJ — Construction will begin Tuesday on the future skate park in Cherry Hill.
The skateboarding facility will be part of Cooper River Park, which is county-run. It's expected to be ready around New Year's Day. But an opening date hasn't been determined, with weather factoring into construction, a Camden County spokesperson told Patch.
County and township leaders will join local skateboarders Tuesday to break ground on the park's construction.

In 2022, the county revealed plans to build a skate park as part of Parks Alive 2025— a $100 million initiative to revitalize Camden County's park system.
The park will cost $913,410 to build. Most of it is county-funded, with $87,000 supported by a state grant.

"This skate park has been a collaborative effort and has been crafted with the residents' and local skateboarders' input," said County Commissioner Jeffrey Nash. "We know that this will be a heavily utilized space and will finally deliver an element that has been missing from our parks system for the skateboarding community."
The facility will go on Park Boulevard — behind the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel.
