New Strategy To Abate Trash Collection Woes In Cinnaminson Announced

Cinnaminson, like other Camden and Burlington County municipalities, has reported delays in trash pickups.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — A new strategy to deal with the trash collection delays that are frustrating Cinnaminson officials and residents was announced.

"Regular household trash and bulk trash may be dropped off at the Cinnaminson Public Works Facility, located at 1601 Union Landing Road, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Monday through Saturday," the township said in an email that went out Monday afternoon.

"Residents should stop in the public works department office upon arrival," the email continued. "Residents are also reminded that the service is an accommodation for regular household trash and bulk trash only and not for home renovations or complete cleanouts."

The new strategy is Cinnaminson's second effort to abate the township's trash collection delays. Last month, the township adjusted its bulk collection pickup schedule to try and alleviate some of Republic Services' staffing and equipment issues.

Even with the new strategies, trash collection delays in Cinnaminson should be expected "for the next several weeks," the township said in the Monday email.

The new strategies should not be interpreted as Cinnaminson letting Republic Services off the hook for the problems it has caused, the township said.

"Cinnaminson Township officials find Republic Services’ performance to be unacceptable and are holding them accountable through all available means," the township said in the email that went out Monday.

Republic Services, in response to Patch's inquiry regarding several municipalities' complaints regarding delayed trash collection services, has said "many industries are facing staffing challenges at this time, and the environmental services industry is no different."
