Sports Medicine Specialist Joins Lourdes

Christopher Chong, MD, recently joined the medical staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center. He specializes in sports medicine and the treatment of sports-related injuries.

Dr. Chong comes to Lourdes from Mercy Health System in Upper Darby, PA, where he was an attending sports medicine specialist.

Dr. Chong completed a primary care sports medicine fellowship at Crozer Keystone Health System in Springfield, PA. He performed his family medicine residency at Crozer Chester Medical Center in West Chester, PA.

Board-certified in family medicine and sports medicine, Dr. Chong earned his medical degree from Drexel University School of Medicine. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Villanova University, graduating Magna Cum Laude.

Dr. Chong has been honored with numerous awards. These include the Society for Teachers in Family Medicine Award for Best Teacher, the Crozer Family Medicine Residency Outstanding Teacher Award, the Crozer Center for Family Health Resident of the Year Award, and the Drexel College of Medicine Family Medicine Award.

Dr. Chong has presented his work at regional conferences. His research focuses on tendinopathy, knee injuries and sports injury-related pain.

Dr. Chong is a member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, American College of Sports Medicine, and American Academy of Family Physicians.

Dr. Chong is active in community wellness and has provided sports medicine coverage at numerous sporting events, including the Rock n’ Roll Half Marathon, Marine Corps Marathon, and the Philadelphia Marathon. He served as a team fellow for Philadelphia Union, Widener University, and the University of Delaware football team.
