Trader Joe's To Open At Garden State Park In Cherry Hill

CHERRY HILL, NJ — Trader Joe’s is reportedly opening a second location in South Jersey, one town over from its current Marlton location.

The Cherry Hill Planning Board approved the preliminary and final site plan that would bring a 14,770 square foot retail building to Towne Place at Garden State Park at its April meeting. It also adjusted the area occupied by the Village Place Apartments to allow for the construction of the new store.

After filing an Open Public Records Act Request (OPRA), njpen.com learned that the site would be home to a Trader Joe’s. Nj.com is also reporting a Trader Joe’s will be built on that site.

"At this time, we have nothing to confirm in regards to the possibility of a Trader Joe’s in Cherry Hill," a spokesperson for the company told Patch in an email Wednesday afternoon.

The new store will be located near Home Depot and the recently announced Costco, and less than two miles from Whole Foods. Home Goods and TJ Maxx are also coming to the site of the former horse track.

The news comes on the heels of the announcements of seven new stores coming to the Cherry Hill Mall. Gabe’s Store recently opened at the Garden State Pavillions.

“We are thrilled at the news of these new retailers coming to Cherry Hill,” Cherry Hill Mayor Chuck Cahn told nj.com. “They are a great complement to the existing line of retail offerings at the Garden State Park and along the entire stretch of Haddonfield Road.”

Trader Joe’s has a location in nearby Marlton, on Route 73. The two locations would be less than 10 miles from each other. The Marlton store is currently the only one of Trader Joe’s 13 New Jersey locations in South Jersey, according to the retail giant’s website.

Trader Joe’s is a California based company that sells a variety of healthy foods, including “alternative” food items. It also sells bread, cereal, eggs, dairy, coffee, and produce as any other grocery store does, but many of its products are sold under its own brand name.
