Transplant Nephrologist Joins Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center

Dr. Mehrotra specializes in caring for kidney and pancreas patients before and after transplant surgery

Transplant nephrologist Anita Mehrotra, MD, recently joined the medical staff of Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center. She specializes in caring for kidney and pancreas patients before and after transplant surgery.

Dr. Mehrotra comes to Lourdes from James J. Peters Veterans Affairs Medical Center in New York, where she served as the medical director of Kidney Transplantation. Prior to that, Dr. Mehrotra was an attending physician at Mount Sinai Medical Center and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, where she was also the associate program director for the Nephrology fellowship program.

Dr. Mehrotra completed transplant and nephrology fellowships at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She performed her internal medicine residency and internship at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and was named “Intern of the Year” and “Teaching Resident of the Year.”

Board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology, Dr. Mehrotra earned her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University. She earned a master’s degree in Clinical Research from Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. Dr. Mehrotra is currently pursuing her doctorate degree in Clinical Research. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Pennsylvania State University.

Dr. Mehrotra has been honored with numerous awards. These include the Young Investigator Award of the 16th Vitamin D Conference, as well as the American Heart Association Founders Affiliate Clinical Research Award.

Dr. Mehrotra has presented her work at regional and national conferences. Her research has a particular interest in nephrology, transplantation, and nutrition, and has been published in medical journals such as the American Journal of Kidney Disease, Journal of Immunology, Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, and Liver Transplantation.

Dr. Mehrotra is a member of the American Society of Transplantation and is a Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology (FASN). She has also served as a member of the American Society of Nephrology's transplant advisory group.

Dr. Mehrotra has been a member of the editorial board of the Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology. She serves as an ad hoc reviewer for numerous nephrology and transplant journals, including the American Journal of Transplantation, Journal of the American Society of Nephrology, and Journal of Renal Nutrition, to name a few.
