Worker Found Dead Inside Kettle Cooker At NJ Food Factory: Police

A funeral service is scheduled for Monday for Dale R. Devilli, 63, of Millville.

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, N.J. — A worker was found dead inside a kettle cooker at a food processing plant in New Jersey on Monday afternoon, state troopers reported.

New Jersey State Troopers responded for a report of an unconscious man at the Lassonde Pappas and Company food processing facility in Upper Deerfield, Cumberland County, according to Trooper Brandi Slota.

Police found a man inside a kettle cooker just before 8 a.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was identified as Dale R. Devilli, 63 of Millville.

"Nothing suspicious appeared in nature," said Slota.

The NJSP and the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration(OSHA) confirmed to Patch they are investigating the death.

Lassonde Pappas produces juices, teas, enhanced waters, sauces, and more. The company did not respond to a request for comment from Patch.

A funeral service for Devilli will be held on Monday, Sept. 26 at 11:30 a.m. at the Freitag Funeral home in Bridgeton.

The interment will take place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Millville. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Monday between 10 and 11:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made Ranch Hope, 45 Sawmill Road, Alloway, NJ 08001.
