1 Killed After Teen Crashes Stolen Car In Rt 130 Police Chase

Kassidy Bush, 15, was killed in Wednesday's accident on Route 130 in Cinnaminson. She was a Palmyra High School student.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — The person killed in an accident involving a stolen car on Route 130 was a 15-year-old Palmyra High School student, Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina announced on Wednesday.

Kassidy Bush was pronounced dead at the scene after the car in which she was a passenger crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer near the intersection with Riverton Road, Coffina said.

Counselors were on site at Palmyra High School on Thursday to help students and staff cope with the loss. Parent-teacher conferences that had been scheduled for Thursday have been postponed until Nov. 28, according to the school's website. It also provided links to resources for dealing with crisis on its homepage.

"The outpouring of support from the community has been exceptional," Palmyra Public School District Superintendent Brian J. McBride said Thursday afternoon. He described the atmosphere at the school as "somber," as the school community struggled with the loss.

The car was reportedly stolen out of Cinnaminson on Wednesday. When police attempted to pull the car over, the driver refused to stop and a chase ensued, police said. During the chase, the car rear-ended a tractor trailer while speeding on Route 130 in Cinnaminson at about 10:30 a.m., according to Coffina.

The driver, also a juvenile, was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden, where he remained in critical but stable condition on Thursday, Coffina said. He has not yet been identified. The prosecutor's office didn't provide information on how the two knew each other on Thursday.

The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured. The investigation by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office is ongoing. No charges had been filed as of Thursday.
