2 New Coronavirus Cases In Burlington County; All Parks To Close

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ — Two more Burlington County residents have tested positive for new coronavirus, bringing the total number of positive cases in the county to six, officials announced Sunday evening.

Additionally, all park buildings in the county have been closed, and activities and events have been canceled.

A 43-year-old Moorestown man and a 63-year-old Eastampton woman have tested positive for the virus, according to officials. The Eastampton woman contracted the virus from travel, while the origin of the Moorestown man’s virus is under investigation. Contact tracing for both cases is underway.

All Burlington County parks and facilities will be closed to the public beginning Monday. Trails will remain open, but buildings and restrooms will be closed. All events and activities will be canceled all at locations. The following is a list of park locations:

• Amico Island, Delran – only trails will be open
• Boundary Creek, Moorestown
• Burlington County Agricultural Center, Moorestown - all activities, events and classes canceled
• County Fairgrounds - all activities, events and classes canceled
• Crystal Lake Park, Mansfield - only trails will be open
• Laurel Run, Delran – only trails will be open
• Long Bridge Park, Hainesport – only trails will be open
• Pennington Park, Edgewater Park – only trails will be open
• Rancocas Nature Center, Westampton – only trails will be open
• Smithville Park and Smith Woods, Eastampton – only trails will be open
• Willingboro Lakes, Willingboro – closed
• Prison Museum and Warden's House – closed
• Lyceum of History and Natural Sciences – closed
• Smithville Mansion – closed
• Underground Railroad Museum – closed
• Workers House at Smithville – closed

As of Monday, Burlington County offices will be closed to the public. All county employees will report for normal duties as scheduled.

The Burlington County Clerk's Office will also be closed to the public, from March 16-22. County Clerk employees will report to work and be available by phone and email. Anyone who needs assistance can call 609-265-5142 or email countyclerk@co.burlington.nj.us.

The Burlington County Superior Court will remain open. The Burlington County Board of Social Services will remain open.

Services at Burlington County Resource Recovery Complex will continue on a normal schedule. The Burlington County Animal Shelter will open for pet recovery only. The nutritional program for Woman, Infants and Children (WIC) will open for scheduled appointments on Monday. After close of business Monday, WIC cash assistance will continue, but all other WIC services will be closed to the public.

On Thursday, Burlington County officials recommended canceling events due to coronavirus following Gov. Phil Murphy's recommendation that gatherings of more than 250 people should be canceled in New Jersey.

The New Jersey Department of Health has partnered with the New Jersey Poison Information and Education System to open and operate a call center (1-800-222-1222) for public use regarding questions, concerns, and other information related to coronavirus spread in New Jersey.
