$25K Reward Offered For Information In Murder Of Woman, 6-Year-Old Son In Burlington County

Police continue to investigate the deaths of 38-year-old Sasikala Narra and her son at a Maple Shade apartment complex.

A $25,000 reward is now available for information leading to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for killing a mother and son in their Maple Shade home earlier this year, authorities announced on Wednesday.

An Indian man who lives in the Fox Meadow apartment complex discovered the bodies of his wife, 38-year-old Sasikala Narra and their son, Anish Narra, just after 9 p.m. on March 23. They had each been stabbed multiple times. Autopsies performed by Burlington County Medical Examiner Dr. Ian Hood concluded that they died from slash wounds to their necks, authorities said.

Police reiterated on Wednesday that although the family is of Indian descent, the case wasn’t being investigated as a hate crime.

Coffina appeared along with Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Newark Division Timothy Gallagher and Maple Shade Township Police Chief Gary C. "We are committed, along with our law enforcement partners of the Maple Shade Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor's Office, to solving this brutal murder of a mother and child,” Gallagher said. “The FBI offers not only monetary support in this investigation, but is also providing our full investigative resources domestically and internationally. We are asking for those who may have information to please come forward.”

A mobile command center staffed by detectives will remain at the apartment complex for the next two days to encourage residents with information to communicate with law enforcement. Police are asking for any information, no matter how insignificant it might seem.

“I want to thank the management of Fox Meadow for their cooperation throughout this investigation,” Gubbei said. “Our department has a very good relationship with the management and the residents. Anyone who knows anything at all about these homicides should feel entirely comfortable approaching us to share that information.”

The case is being investigated by detectives from the Maple Shade Police Department and the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Unit, with assistance from the FBI and several other agencies. The lead investigators are Burlington County Prosecutor's Office Detective Andy Mikulski and Maple Shade Police Detective Nicholas Giannini Jr.

Anyone with information that might assist investigators is asked to call 609-265-7113 or send an email to reward@co.burlington.nj.us.
