5 Reasons Your Dog Poop Needs to be Scooped

Poop!  It’s the not-so-glamorous part of being owned by your dog.  You know it’s out there….waiting to be picked up.  You just don’t WANT to.  As a pet sitter in Toms River, I’ve seen my fair share of poop in backyards.  There’s probably 20 other things you’d rather do, like clean your OWN toilet, than pick up after your dog.

Did you know the average dog drops their business 2-3 times a day.  Think about how much poop that is each week!  Other than it being stinky and unsightly, there are other reasons why it’s important your dog’s poop be scooped.

1. Ewww….worms?  Dog poop can contain parasites such as roundworm, tapeworms, giardia, parvo-virus and hookworms.  As gross as it is, these parasites can crawl out of the poop and live in the soil for long periods of time.  The parasites can be transmitted to other animals or even humans.  Do you have kids playing in areas where dogs go potty in your yard?
2. It’s Raining….WHAT?   Yes, storm water can carry pet waste directly into waterways.  Sip on that for a moment.  YUCK!
3. Are You Offensive?  You may be able to ignore the sight and stench of your dog’s bodily functions, but can your neighbors?  Can they enjoy their yards or are you creating a hostile neighborly relationship over CRAP?  Literally?
4. It’s NOT fertilizer. Did you know that dog poop is acidic and it’s Ph level will chemically burn your grass and plants?
5. They Care! Your dog cares if their area is clean.  If you start noticing they are going potty in different areas then usual, it’s most likely because they don’t want to do in a dirty area.  If you’re trying to keep poop contained to one area, you need to make sure it’s clean, so it’s an encouraging place to go.

If you can’t commit to cleaning your yard, then do the next best thing:  HIRE us to do it for you!  You, your neighbors and your dog will be grateful!
