Paint the Porch Pink Breast Cancer Walk

The Porch Club of Riverton is hosting their second “Paint the Porch Pink” Breast Cancer Walk on Sunday, June 2nd at 2:00 PM. A family-friendly and pet-friendly event, this 3-mile stroll features several ‘Pink Porches’ where walkers are invited to stop and enjoy live music and pink refreshments.  Other activities will include pink hair painting, face painting, balloons and raffles, including a beautiful handmade quilt. Same day registration will be held at the Porch Club on 4th & Howard Sts. in Riverton, beginning at 12:30PM, although pre-registration is encouraged. The $25.00 registration fee will benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, the leading fund-raising organization for breast cancer research, education, screening and support. Pre-registered walkers by May 24th will be guaranteed commemorative t-shirts; same-day registrants will receive shirts while supplies last. Children ages 5 and under do not require registration when accompanied by an adult, and will receive a free balloon. Registration for children ages 6 through 12 is $5.00, and these walkers will also receive a balloon. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The official start of the walk is at 2:00 PM at 4th & Main Streets, rain or shine.

Senator Diane Allen will kick off the walk with a proclamation and Mayor Bill Brown will also address the walkers.

This breast cancer walk is a repeat of the hugely successful walk held in 2011 by The Porch Club. According to Barbara Beck, President of The Porch Club, “The Porch Club of Riverton is an organization dedicated to women’s issues. The Paint the Porch Pink Walk to raise money to support breast cancer research and prevention is a perfect fit for the Porch Club.  We hope to both entertain and inform our members and the public while raising a significant amount of money for The Breast Cancer Research Foundation,” says Beck.
