Black Lives Matter Rally Set For Cinnaminson Sunday

A Black Lives Matter rally will take place at Wood Park in Cinnaminson on Sunday.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — An event organizers are describing as a peaceful protest will take place in Cinnaminson this weekend in the aftermath of George Floyd’s death.

A Black Lives Matter rallly will take place at Wood Park at noon Sunday. It will begin at the park, located at the corner of Pomona and Riverton roads, and the protesters will march about one mile.

They will then reconvene at the park to hear from speakers. Those who participate are asked to wear a mask. For more on the event, visit the event’s Facebook page.

Floyd was killed after then Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin kneeled on his neck for nearly nine minutes. Video, which captured Floyd saying "I can't breathe," went viral, and sparked nationwide protests.

In the aftermath of his death, Cinnaminson police encouraged anyone who feels they have been treated unfairly by an officer in their department to contact Chief Richard Calabrese directly.
