'Boom Party' Noise Persists In Cinnaminson; Meeting To Address Years-Long Issue

The meeting in Palmyra will include police representatives from Cinnaminson, Philadelphia and other nearby agencies.

PALMYRA, NJ — As Cinnaminson's battle against "boom parties" across the Delaware continues, officials will hold a meeting Thursday in which residents can voice concerns.

The community meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Thursday in the Palmyra Community Center (30 West Broad St., Palmyra). Police representatives from Cinnaminson, Philadelphia and other nearby agencies will be present.

The blaring noise from boom parties — large gatherings where people blast music from cars with massive speakers — has irritated local residents for several years. While the parties occur in Philadelphia, residents can hear the noise across the Delaware River in communities such as Cinnaminson and Palmyra.

"While it may seem like a never-ending battle," Cinnaminson Police Chief Rich Calabrese said Monday in a statement, "I continue to hold the Philadelphia Police accountable for doing their job and am in constant communication with them so that we are not disturbed by their noise constantly."
