I patronize a lot of local eating places in the area and I have yet to find a restaurant where the spaghetti and meatballs are reasonable. My mom would never order spaghetti out. She said, "Why do I want to pay all that money for 50 cents of spaghetti."
Come on, why do they charge $11 to $20 for 50 cents of spaghetti? You say it's the meatballs? I disagree. How many do you get out of a pound of meat and then they add bread, etc. I know, preach to me about overhead, pay, and rent. I was in the business myself so I understand. Don't compare fancy pasta dish prices with my lowly dish. How about giving me two meatballs and less spaghetti? Please someone out there come to my rescue.
When I think I have found a place, I find they made them too salty, too much bread, or the wrong mixture of veal. The gravy (sauce), not the best either. I know I can go out of town and get them, but sometimes I just want to sit down, enjoy a quick lunch or dinner, and go home. Give me some nice Italian rich gravy and meatballs!
