Burlington Co. Man Found With Pipe Bombs Faces Additional Charge: Feds

MOUNT LAUREL, NJ — A Mount Laurel man who had pipe bombs in his car now faces a federal charge for last summer's incident, authorities said Wednesday.

Jeremy Giliberti, 52, was charged Thursday with possessing destructive devices — a federal offense. He's scheduled to appear Tuesday afternoon in Trenton federal court.

Giliberti was initially arrested July 26, when Hamilton police say they found explosives in his car. During a search of the vehicle, an officer found a duffle bag on the front passenger-side floorboard that contained four pipe bombs, authorities said.

Two of the devices were encased in 5-inch steel pipes and two of the devices were encased in cardboard tubing wrapped in duct tape. All four of the devices contained numerous metal pellets, an explosive mixture, and a pyrotechnic fuse, according to court documents.

Giliberti was arrested at the scene. Police later found another device during a search of Giliberti's home.

In July, Giliberti was charged with possession of a destructive device.

The federal offense carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000, if convicted.
