Set 50 years ago in the late fall of 1964, John Patrick Shanley’s play (winner of the Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the Tony Award for Best Play) explores the conflicts and tensions that arise in a Catholic elementary school when the stern principal, Sister Aloysius, believes the progressive parish priest has had an improper relationship with a student.

As a naive young nun and the boy’s mother are drawn into the mix, the thought-provoking drama looks at the ways in which certainty, loyalty, conviction, and suspicion shift as the story progresses.
