Calling Scouts from the Past 75 Years!

Organizers of a reunion are looking for past members of Scout Troop 9 to help celebrate the group’s 75th year of youth development and community service.

The troop’s Cub Scouts, Scouts BSA and Venturing Crew have involved hundreds of people and contributed countless volunteer hours over an amazing 75 years with the same chartering organization. Bethany Lutheran Church in Palmyra sponsored the troop’s formation in 1947 and has continuously renewed that commitment.

The low number of Troop 9 is an indicator of how early it was chartered in New Jersey and how long it has remained active. Its former Scouts are now spread throughout the South Jersey region and beyond.

Former Scouts are invited to participate in the Diamond Anniversary Celebration and Reunion at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18 at Sacred Heart Family Center, 102 Fourth St. in Riverton, N.J. Festivities will include a guest speaker, catered supper and the sharing of memories. Troop 9 marks its 75th year for Scouts; Venturing Crew for young adults is 71 years old, and the Cub Scout Pack has been around for 68 years.
