Cherry Hill West Baseball Team Downs Cinnaminson In Diamond Classic

Cherry Hill West won Tuesday's first round game, 11-1, according to nj.com.

After two rain delays, the Cherry Hill High School West baseball team and Cinnaminson finally got on the field for their first round meeting in the 44th annual Joe Hartmann Diamond Classic. Cherry Hill West defeated Cinnaminson, 11-1, in their first round meeting on Tuesday, according to nj.com. Cherry Hill West will face Shawnee in the second round on Saturday.

John Stankiewicz picked up the win on the mound, striking out eight batters in six innings of work, according to the report. Chace Sgouros had a home run and was responsible for four RBI for Cherry Hill West. Christian Massara was 1-for-3 with an RBI for Cinnaminson.

The game was originally scheduled for Saturday, but was postponed due to rain. It was then set to take place on Sunday, but was postponed one more time.

Cherry Hill West is now 13-5 and will face Shawnee, an 8-3 winner over Haddon Heights, on Saturday. The semifinals and final are all scheduled for Sunday, May 21. To view the full bracket, visit nj.com.

Cinnaminson is 8-10, with regular season games left at Pemberton and at home against Delran. In back-to-back games earlier this season, Cinnaminson fell to Delran, 6-5, then beat Pemberton, 8-3.

The Pirates are in the midst of a four-game stretch that included an 11-7 win over Riverside on Monday. Jimmy Sullivan and Matt Overman each had a two-run double in that win, and Joe Doll and Joe McGuan each had an RBI single, according to nj.com. Mike Wojcik was the winning pitcher in that one.
