Cinnaminson High School Softball Team Falls in Playoff Semifinals

The Pirates rallied, but eventually fell to top-seeded West Deptford.

Cinnaminson, NJ -- The top-seeded West Deptford High School softball team put up two runs in the bottom of the seventh-inning to squeak past No. 4 Cinnaminson and into the finals of the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 playoffs, according to nj.com.

MacKenzie Ponto’s single scored Allison Gallagher, after Gallagher scored Amanda Patch with a single earlier in the inning, to send the Eagles home happy, according to the report.

West Deptford led, 7-2, after four innings, but the Pirates rallied.

Brook Figiel, Olivia Pestridge and Jessica Ferris each hit a homerun for Cinnaminson in a fifth inning that saw the Pirates cut the lead to one run.

The Pirates took the lead in the sixth when was able to score following a bunt thanks to a pair of throwing errors.

West Deptford was set to face No. 2 Sterling on Thursday in the championship game.

Cinnaminson finished the season with a record of 12-13.

The Pirates opened the playoffs with a 19-0 win over No. 11 Medford Tech.

Cinnaminson then defeated No. 5 Overbrook, 2-0, in the quarterfinals.
