Cinnaminson Man Charged In Fatal Shooting: Prosecutor
Xavier Myers has been charged in connection with the fatal shooting of an Eastampton man.
CINNAMINSON, NJ — A Cinnaminson man is one of two men charged with the fatal shooting of an Eastampton man in Burlington City on Saturday night.
Xavier L. Myers, 19, of the 700 block of South Worrington Avenue, was charged with one count of aggravated assault in connection with the fatal shooting of Eric Thomas II, 30, of Eastampton.
Irie Y. Simmons, 18, of Pennsauken, was charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon in the same incident.

On Monday, Burlington County Prosecutor Robert D. Bernardi and Burlington City Police Chief Alan R. Snow said Myers and Simmons approached Thomas at about 10:40 p.m. near the intersection of East Broad and Library streets in Burlington City.
After the shooting, police say they fled the scene, but were captured by police in the area a short time later. Police announced over the weekend that two men were in custody, but didn't identify them until Monday.

Police officers from the Burlington City, Burlington Township, and the Burlington County Bridge Commission police departments responded to the scene of the shooting.
Thomas was taken to Lourdes Medical Center of Burlington County in Willingboro, where he was pronounced dead at 11:29 p.m.
The gun believed to have been used in the shooting has been recovered. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding a possible motive for the shooting.
Thomas was released from state custody on Wednesday after serving a five-year sentence for drowning 29-year-old Lemuel Reyes, of Mount Holly, in 2013, according to the Courier Post. He pleaded guilty to that charge in 2014.
