CINNAMINSON, NJ — Cinnaminson police will be out in force on multiple days to ensure drivers are following the law as students go back to school. The Cinnaminson Township Police Department is working in conjunction with the Burlington County Sheriff’s Department on “Operation Safe Stop.”
“We will have officers out in force on multiple days and at numerous bus stops in marked and unmarked vehicles making sure our children are safe,” Cinnaminson police said on Wednesday. “Our goal is to ensure all children get to school safely and to educate the public on the dangers of passing a stopped school bus.”
Any driver who passes a stopped school bus may receive a ticket for NJSA 39:4-128.1 (mandatory court appearance) and, if convicted, receive five points and:
(1) a fine of not less than $100.00;
(2) imprisonment for not more than 15 days or community service for 15 days; or
(3) both for the first offense.
