CINNAMINSON, NJ — Students in the Cinnaminson Public School District will be split into three groups for the upcoming school year, according to the district’s reopening plan posted online Friday afternoon.

Two of the groups will attend school in-person two days a week and have three days of remote learning. The third group will be reserved for special populations of students, such as those who attend self-contained programs or preschoolers with disabilities.

Students will be assigned to this group based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) needs and via Child Study Team identification procedures.

Group B will consist of students whose last names begin with L-Z. This group will attend school on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Wednesdays will be a remote learning day for all students. By offering a hybrid option, the district is looking to reduce the population of each school by 50 percent.

The district will also offer a 100 percent remote learning option as mandated by Gov. Phil Murphy. The district will send out a survey early this month to see how many families prefer the 100 percent remote-learning option. Where possible, students who will be all-remote will be paired with staff members who may also need to work in a remote capacity.

Students who qualify for related services will receive these services in a remote capacity through Google Meet or Zoom. Sessions will be scheduled directly with the provider according to the student’s Individual Educational Plan (IEP).

Students who engage in all-remote learning will not be eligible for on-campus extracurricular activities, but they will be able to participate in select online activities.

Once the school year begins, any request to change from all-remote to in-person learning or vice versa will be submitted to the school’s principal, who will render a decision within three days.

The district will provide Chromebooks to all families that request technology access at home. A request for devices will be sent out to all families through email and the Genesis Parent Portal. The district will partner with low-cost internet providers to “sponsor” families who are unable to afford internet access.

All students, staff, and visitors will be required to wear face coverings upon entering school buses, facilities, and at all times while on school property. Medical exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis when supported by a doctor’s note and when social distancing can be achieved.

Handwashing, respiratory hygiene, use of hand-sanitizer (greater than 60% alcohol) and the use of other EPA/FDA approved products will be accessible in the buildings and use will be encouraged via daily reminders and consistent signage throughout district buildings. Hand sanitizer will be available on all busses, in all classrooms and in all common areas.

Anyone experiencing symptoms of the coronavirus will be asked to stay home.

Classrooms will be reconfigured to help students maintain social distancing of 6 feet in compliance with health and safety guidelines set forth by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Classrooms will be cleaned daily and between cohort use through a combination of
school district personnel, contracted employees, and individual student responsibility.

All schools will have visual aids, markings, and prominent signage to assist students, staff and visitors in managing social distancing, directional flow through hallways, and large group areas.
Passenger limits will be placed on buses to promote social distancing.

The district will follow the NJSIAA’s guidelines for high school sports. Superintendent Dr. Stephen Cappello and the Cinnaminson Board of Education will monitor the situation and end the season if need be. Decisions related to the winter and spring seasons for the 2020-2021 school year will be based on current data ahead of each respective season.
