Cinnaminson Wrestling Team Faces Rival in First Round of Playoffs

The Pirates are the No. 3 seed in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 playoffs.

Cinnaminson, NJ -- The Cinnaminson High School wrestling team must get past a familiar foe in its quest for a South Jersey title.

The Pirates, the No. 3 seed in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 2 playoffs, hosts No. 6 Delran in the first round Monday night, 7 p.m., according to nj.com. The winner faces No. 2 West Deptford in the semifinals on Feb. 8.

The match is a rematch of the teams’ Jan. 20 meeting, won by Cinnaminson, 37-33.

In that match, the Pirates had four pins, two major decisions and a technical fall.

TJ Emanuel pinned Dakota Hunter at 106 pounds; Isaiah Ellis pinned Eric Gardner at 113; Ryan Teague pinned Mark Olivo at 138; and Shaun Davilla pinned Zach Bohn at 182.

Heavyweight Keith Swartley scored the technical fall, defeating Ethan Hill, 16-1.

Jarrod Averill scored a major decision victory over Louie Rossner, 11-2, at 126, and Joe Saxton had a major decision win over Chris Pfeffer, 14-5, at 145.

Cinnaminson is 12-2 this season. Delran is 13-10.

Collingswood is the No. 1 overall seed, and hosts the winner of the match between No. 4 Haddonfield and No. 5 Clayton in the semifinals.

The championship match is scheduled for Feb. 12.
