Cinnaminson's Keith Swartley Claims Regional Title

Swartley won the heavyweight title at the Region 7 tournament. Pat Morton was third at 160, according to nj.com.

For the second week in a row, Cinnaminson High School wrestler Keith Swartley captured an individual championship.

The Pirates’ heavyweight won the Region 7 title at Robbinsville this weekend, according to nj.com. In doing so, he qualified for the state championship tournament in Atlantic City next weekend.

Swartley, the District 26 champion, entered the tournament as the No. 2 seed.

Swartley opened the regional tournament with a 3-1 win over No. 10 Zach Moore, of Moorestown.

In the semifinals, he defeated Sterling’s Jahquan Thompson, 3-1.

In the final, he was matched up with No. 8 Calen West, of Delran, after West upset top-seeded Cody Wallace, of Palmyra, and No. 5 Ryan Swenson, of Cherry Hill West, to reach the final.

Swartley captured the regional title with a sudden victory over West.

Pat Morton will join Swartley in Atlantic City after finishing third at 160 pounds. The top three wrestlers in each weight class advanced to the state tournament.

The district champion entered the regional tournament as the No. 4 seed.

In the quarterfinals, he defeated No. 5 Christopher Steward, of Robbinsville, 3-2. He lost to top-seeded Brock Worrell, the Eastern wrestler who eventually won the regional title, 5-1 in the semifinals.

In the wrestleback semifinals, he defeated Nottingham’s Trott Montina, 11-8. He defeated Haddonfield’s Crawford Oswald, 3-2, in the final, to claim third place.
