Cinnaminson's Keith Swartley Learns Seeding for State Wrestling Tournament

The heavyweight is 33-0 with a District 26 and Region 7 title under his belt this season.

He may be undefeated, but Cinnaminson High School heavyweight wrestler Keith Swartley enters the state championship tournament as the No. 5 seed on the lower half of the bracket, which was posted on nj.com Monday afternoon.

Swartley (33-0) receives a first-round bye and will face No. 4 David Brown, of Union, in the second round of the 24-wrestler tournament on March 4 at Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

The quarterfinals and the semifinals are set for March 5, and the championship match is scheduled for March 6.

The bracket has an upper half and a lower half, with the eight seeded wrestlers and four non-seeded wrestlers on each side.

Nick Rivera, of Brick Memorial, is the No. 1 seed on Swartley’s side of the bracket. Kyle Nothnagel, of Phillipsburg, is the No. 2 seed, and Jonathan Beltre, of Union City, is the No. 3 seed.

The No. 1 seed on the upper half of the bracket is Sayreville’s Anthony Porcaro. Christian Brothers’ William Oxley is No. 2, Buena’s Antonio Rodriguez is No. 3 and Don Bosco Prep’s Eric Chakonis is No. 4.

Swartley won the Region 7 title over the weekend at Holy Cross. He advanced with a series of 1-0 victories, including over Collingswood’s Ryan Harper in the final. Harper is the No. 6 seed on the upper half of the bracket, and will face Passaic Valley’s Thomas Marretta in the first round.

Lenape’s Tyler Steffa finished third in the region, and is unseeded. He faces No. 7 Michael Kellstrom, of Chatham, in the first round, also in the upper half of the bracket.

Two weeks ago, Swartley captured the District 26 title with a major decision victory over Delran’s Anthony Grozozki in the final.
