Cinnaminson's Population Grew About 1,000

In the past 10 years, the township saw a 7 percent population increase.

The population here increased about 7 percent according to data released today by the U.S. Census Bureau.

Cinnaminson was home to 15,569 people in 2010, up 974 from the 14,595 who lived here in 2000, according to the Census Bureau.

Of the 15,569 people, 13,931 are white—a little over 89 percent. There are 855 black residents (5.5 percent), 478 Hispanic, 370 Asian and 3 Native American.

New Jersey was home to 8,414,350 people in 2010, according to the Census Bureau, a 4.5-percent increase from the prior census count.

The state's five most populated towns in 2000 stayed in the same order in 2010, with Newark (277,140), Jersey City (247,597), Paterson (146,199), Elizabeth (124,969) and Edison Township (99,967) leading the way.

The Census data released today will help redraw federal, state and local legislative districts. New Jersey will lose one seat in the House under the counts.
