Delran Residents, Doctor Stay Connected Under Larger Network

The Premier Physician Network includes nine physicians and four nurse practitioners at seven locations throughout southern New Jersey.

DELRAN, NJ — Patients in Delran will be able to continue seeing their doctor while benefiting from a larger network under the Premier Physician Network.

“Our patients still want to see their local doctor. And our doctors want to maintain their independence,” said Edward Gulko, MBA, FACMPE, FACHE, LNHA, and Interim CEO of Premier Physician Network. “But as medicine becomes increasingly complex, solo and small group physicians find value in creating a network.”

The benefits of a larger network include shared technology, including electronic health records that allow physicians to better coordinate care and promote wellness.

The Premier Physician Network includes nine physicians and four nurse practitioners at seven locations throughout southern New Jersey, including Delran. Their expertise ranges from acute and chronic illness to gerontology.

“The field of medicine today has grown increasingly complex and electronically based,” Cherry Hill-based Dr. Lisa Dructor said. “Through this network, I can continue to focus on my patients and their health and well being, knowing that I have the support of the network and my colleagues at Premier Physician Network.”

Other locations are in Collingswood, Sicklerville, Voorhees and Haddonfield. Under the network, doctors are reimbursed for positive health outcomes rather than for each test performed or service rendered, according to a statement from the network. Patient care is more carefully coordinated.

In the patient-centered model, the local practice takes responsibility for the patient’s overall health, staying accessible to the patient and working with the patient to create and oversee a care plan. The network provides its member physicians with technical and back-office support.

According to the Large Employers’ 2018 Health Care Strategy and Plan Design Survey, nearly 40 percent of employers have incorporated some type of value-based benefit into their employee plans, in many cases involving reductions in premiums in return for managing chronic conditions or obtaining more efficient care.

The patient-centered model offers better outcomes in disease management, patient engagement, and continuity of care, according to the National Committee for Quality Assurance. The New Jersey Department of Health was recently awarded a federal grant to increase the number of pediatric patients with special health care needs who are served by a medical home.
