Fake Cops Causing Trouble In At Least 3 NJ Towns

Police are looking for fake cops who recently assaulted, searched pockets and even pointed a gun at a person in New Jersey.

One group kicked a man. Another pointed a gun at a victim. All of these fake cops searched people. None of them have been found.

Now police in three New Jersey towns are looking for fake cops – a total of 6 people – who have been causing a lot of trouble in these communities by impersonating police.

Some of them wear clothing that appears to be police officers. Some even have lights and used them to pull people over.

Burlington Township

Police are looking for police impersonators who robbed and kicked a man while searching pockets in Burlington Township on April 12.

The incident happened at approximately 11:48 p.m., when the Burlington Township Police Department responded to the Burlington Bypass between Fountain Avenue and Wedgewood Drive on a report of police impersonators who assaulted and robbed a driver, police said.

Upon arrival, officers found a 28-year-old Willingboro man who reported that he was driving northbound on the Burlington Bypass when he was stopped by a large, dark colored Chevrolet or GMC SUV, police said.

The SUV had blue and white emergency-style lights visible on the front windshield and front bumper area. The victim said that once he was stopped, three black or Hispanic male suspects wearing dark clothing exited the SUV, physically removed him from his vehicle, searched his pockets for money, then threw him to the ground and kicked him, police said.

The suspects then fled. The SUV was last seen heading north on the Burlington Bypass toward Fountain Avenue. The victim was treated at Lourdes Medical Center for minor injuries.

This case is currently being investigated by the Burlington Township Police Department Investigations Bureau, with efforts focusing on attempting to identify the suspect vehicle and its occupants.

Delanco Township

Police are looking for two police impersonators who searched a driver before letting the motorist go.

The incident happened on April 7 at 12:10 a.m., when Delanco Police received an anonymous report that two white men on foot posing as police officer stopped a motorist on Burlington Avenue, police said.

The victim, who was not familiar with the area informed police, said the men stood in the middle of the road waiving flashlights, identified themselves as police officers and stopped his vehicle, police said.

The victim told police that the white males ordered him out of his vehicle and searched him without anything being taken from him. The victim said that after they searched him, he was let go and they left the area on foot. No further description of the males was given, police said.

Florence Township

Police are searching for someone posing as a police officer who reportedly pointed a gun at a man in early April.

The incident happened on April 4 at 5:45 a.m, when a caller said what appeared to be a police officer pointed a gun at him as he was delivering bread at a local business establishment, police said.

The caller said the "police officer" asked what he was doing, searched him and his vehicle before allowing him to leave. The caller said nothing was taken from him, and there was no further interaction, police said.

The caller reports that the "police officer" was wearing a black polo style shirt with what appeared to be a gold police insignia stitched on the shirt, and black pants with an exposed holster, police said.

The suspect was operating a black or dark blue, unmarked newer model Ford Taurus that was parked on West Fourth Street facing Broad Street (see photo). After the interaction, the suspect made a K-turn and drove west on West Fourth Street, police said
