'Fiddler On The Roof' Opens At Cinnaminson High School This Weekend
"Fiddler on the Roof" was one of the first Broadway musicals to deal with serious issues such as persecution and poverty.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — Cinnaminson High School presents its rendition of “Fiddler on the Roof” in the school’s new auditorium on Friday, March 17, Saturday, March 18, and Sunday, March 19.
Friday’s performance will be at 8 p.m., while weekend performances are set for 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. There will also be an 8 p.m. performance on March 18.
“Fiddler on the Roof” was one of the first Broadway musicals to deal with serious issues such as persecution, poverty and holding on to one’s beliefs.

Set in 1905 in a small Jewish village in Russia, it is the story of dairyman Tevye and his attempts to preserve his family’s traditions in a changing world.
Tevye’s daughter Tzeitel wants to marry a poor tailor instead of the middle-aged butcher her father has chosen for her in the tradition of arranged marriages. Tevye is forced to choose between his daughter’s happiness and his culture’s beloved traditions.

The musical produced well-known songs such as “Sunrise, Sunset,” “If I Were a Rich Man,” “Miracles of Miracles” and “Matchmaker.”

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and free for senior citizens and children under 5, and are available at the door.
Cinnaminson High School is located at 1197 Riverton Road in Cinnaminson.
