A former Trenton police officer has admitted to sexually assaulting two children, Burlington County Prosecutor Scott Coffina announced. William L. Sanchez-Monllor, 38 of Burlington Township, pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, authorities announced.

As part of the plea deal, Sanchez-Monllor faces 30 years in state prison without the possibility of parole. Sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 28, 2020.

He was initially arrested in September 2018 and has remained in jail since. Details of the assaults were sealed by the judge, but he was indicted on a litany of charges in February.

At the time of his first arrest, he was charged with the sexual assault of one child. Later that month, a second child came forth, and he was additionally charged.

The case was investigated by detectives from the Burlington Township Police Department and the Prosecutor's Office. The lead investigators are Burlington County Prosecutor's Office Det. Tony Luyber and Burlington Township Det. Ruben Ortiz-Cruz.
